Established in 2014, the International Economics Business Association (IEBA) began as a group of friends in first year who were trying to find career options with an economics degree after graduation. After much research, we were excited to discover that our understanding of economics could lead us to careers in many different fields of business such as finance, consulting, and law, and we soon realized that many of our classmates were interested in this as well. Though as we continued with our search, the opportunities for peer support, networking, and mentorship were limited and fragmented in the economics student space at UBC. As a result,  IEBA was created to be a place for students of any year to learn from each other, interact with industry professionals, and have opportunities to apply the skills they've learned in class on real business problems.

IEBA connects the business community in Vancouver to with economics students, whether they are wrapping up their undergraduate career or just beginning their first year of study.

Our Objectives:

  • To provide opportunities for undergraduate students to bridge the gap between economic theory and its practical uses in the corporate world.

  • To establish, develop, and maintain meaningful links between industry professionals and undergraduate students at UBC interested in the integration of economics with business in the private sector.

  • To foster a sense of community within the Vancouver School of Economics and host events where students passionate about economics and business can gather and share valuable experiences.
